Longboard

A longboard is a type of surfboard that is very long and buoyant, often exceeding 10 feet in length and able to catch even the smallest waves due to their increased surface area. This makes them ideal for beginners, but they are also loved by expert riders as well, especially in areas that do not have large waves where a short board excels.

A longboard catches smaller waves and larger waves easier because it has so much surface area for the water to push on. This makes them very easy to learn on and incredibly stable while riding. This stability allows more advanced riders to perform a wide variety of tricks and stunts on the board including putting their toes over the front of the board to really hang ten.

A traditional longboard was made of wood that was often hollowed out to give it a lighter weight on land. Today’s boards are typically made from foam composites which make them much lighter than a wooden board although less durable and very different looking.
