Surf Equipment
Surf equipment is very basic though the sport takes quite a bit of talent to master. All that is really needed is a surf board, but there are many different types of board that can be ridden. Most surfers ride a sport board which is 5-11 feet in height. Shorter than that and its more of a body board, and longer boards are called longboards.
Other surf equipment that is useful is a leash attached to board in case the surfer falls of the board. The leash connects the surfer to the board which prevents them from having to swim after it when they fall into the water. It can also help a surfer determine which way is up in a swirling rip tide, but they can also be dangerous if tangled.
Other than that the only surf equipment needed is board shorts or a wetsuit and possibly a rash guard. These protect the rider from the sun and harsh salt water, as well as keeping them as modest as possible. A wetsuit is useful in cooler water temperatures and essential to surf in many areas.
